Bjorn Harmse

Bjorn Harmse obtained his LL.B degree from the University of the Western Cape. During his articles he specialised in Personal injury claims, General Litigation and Criminal law. Bjorn became director of a firm in Bellville in May 2005 and made a huge contribution to the success of their Personal injury and motor vehicle accident claims department due to his relationship with the stakeholders at the Road Accident Fund. After 21 years at his previous firm  Bjorn joined Hassen-Harmse Attorneys as partner in September 2023.

In March 2012 Bjorn was appointed as Chairperson of the Business Western Cape and served in this role until 2015. He continued to hold various positions at the organisation including deputy chairperson and currently as secretary of BWC. He has played a valuable role in assisting the organisation in carrying out its mandate and was the driving force of the event “Business meets Cabinet”, which created a platform for partnership between western cape businesses and government.

Bjorn has also been a longstanding member of AHI Western Cape, in 2022 he was the inaugural recipient of the “ Die Burger – Media 24 and AHI Western Cape”  Upcoming business leader award.

Bjorn feels strongly about giving back to the community and has assisted in various upliftment projects in underprivileged communities.

Joycelyn Harmse

Joycelyn Harmse obtained her LL.B degree at the University of the Western Cape. After which she completed her articles specialising in general litigation and Personal Injury law and was Admitted as an attorney in 2010. From March 20212 – June 2015 she practiced for her own account focusing only on personal injury claims and in July 2015 she was offered an opportunity to head up the personal injury and motor vehicle accidents department at a law firm in Claremont. In March 2021 she decided to venture on her own as Hassen-Harmse Attorneys, and in September 2023 partnered with Bjorn Harmse.

Dedicated to continued education, Joycelyn embraces the opportunity to deepen her understanding and knowledge of the law. As a mentor and advisor, she is passionate about cultivating and developing talent, and sharing her knowledge and skills with others.
